Marriott International is expanding into the multifamily market with its first branded apartment property scheduled to open in 2027 in Cleveland, Ohio, through Marriott’s luxury brand, “W”. The mixed-use development will feature approximately 200 hotel rooms alongside 227 apartment units available for rent. Residents will have access to hotel amenities including a fitness center, spa, rooftop bar, specialty restaurant, concierge services, and exclusive W Hotels programming, which blends long-term living with a hospitality driven experience.
The move reflects a growing demand for lifestyle focused living experiences that extend beyond traditional apartment offerings. By combining residential leasing with hotel style services and amenities, Marriott is introducing a new model that could appeal to renters seeking greater convenience, flexibility, and premium experiences. The concept also signals continued innovation as hospitality and multifamily continue to overlap.
As hospitality brands explore new ways to diversify their portfolios, developments like W Cleveland could influence future multifamily projects across the industry. Marriott's expansion into branded apartment rentals, alongside similar initiatives from companies like Hilton, highlights a growing opportunity for hospitality and residential real estate to converge in new and evolving ways.
